YERBABUENA (one word) is a group of individuals who come together to play the music that they love under the musical direction of singer-composer-musician Tato Torres. It is composed of musicians, singers and dancers from the New York City area, who share an intense passion for the musical traditions of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. The lead singer for this clip is Flaco Navaja, poet, singer and actor. This clip was aired on Japanese television. The song “Campo” is a traditional bomba song from Puerto Rico.
I love Yerbabuena! “Island Life” CD is great, my favorite song “Sugar Daddy”. Makes you wiggle in your chair, wishing the gringo husband knew how to dance!
YERBABUENA (one word), which is the Boricua (Puerto Rican) Roots band featured in the video clip above, is not to be confused with “Yerba Buena”, the Afro-Cuban fused Latin Pop group mentioned by Cassy.
